However, Britain came second at the national level, attracting a total of 1,000,000 immigrants. On the other end of the spectrum, Poland only managed to welcome 6,000 newcomers, which is the least on the list.
Notably, Polish citizens were the largest group of emigrants, with approximately 1.2 million leaving Poland in 2011. On the other hand, only 200,000 Spanish people emigrated that year. Italians were the second largest group of emigrants, with nearly 900,000 leaving their country. Lastly, both the British and Germans emigrated in similar numbers, with around half a million people moving abroad from each country.
