Given are pie charts reviewing data regarding travellers’ purposes at four different airports in 2016.
Overall, it is noticeable that visiting family, friends and holidays were by far the most common purpose, while business and other categories were less prevalent. Furthermore, Gatwick airport dominated by number of visitors whose purpose was going to holidays, meanwhile Stansted and Luton Airports saw the vastest numbers of passengers visiting their friends and family.
Turning to the details of Gatwick and Heathrow Airports, it is noteworthy that the proportion of people who had business flights in the latter airport comprised twofold as much as of that in the former one, 28% and 14% respectively. More than a half of the entire aggregate was responsible for the holiday category in Gatwick, while a third percentage comprised 33% in Heathrow. As for visiting friends and family shared the same portion, if not to take a tiny disparity into account with respective figures of 30% and 37%. The proportion of other purposes in Gatwick was twofold as less as that of Heathrow Airport passengers.
As far as Stansted and Luton Airport were concerned, the share of holiday and business purposes was almost identical. The vastest percentage in both airports was the purpose of family and friends, 48% and 50% respectively. The remaining proportion of 2% in both airports were responsible for other purposes.
