Overall, by the end of the period, the water levels rose in all cities, except Sydney where it remained unchanged and Brisbane where it fell. Besides, both Darwin and Melbourne had the highest water levels in 2009, before Darwin was overtaken by Melbourne in 2010.

As for October 2009, Darwin and Melbourne were reported to have the highest water levels, which accounted for 70%. Meanwhile, Sydney was the runner-up, with its water level standing at 60%, while Canberra came third, where the water level amounted to 55%. Besides, Canberra was followed by Brisbane, whose water level was 40%, whereas the Perth’s water level comprised 35%.

Turning to October 2010, the water level in Melbourne increased to 90%, while the level in Darwin slightly rose to 80%. In the meantime, the Canberra’s water level grew to just above 70%, whereas the water level in Sydney remained the same. Additionally, the water level in Perth experienced a rise to 45%. Finally, the water level in Brisbane decreased to 30%, which was three times lower than in Melbourne.
