The line graph illustrates the past figures of authorities’ spending as a proportion of GDP from 2000 to 2025 in three areas.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of GDP spent on health experienced a significant growth throughout the period, whereas spending on education saw a slight decline. In contrast, there was a fluctuation in spending on roads and railways.
Looking first at education, starting from 2000, it began rising significantly until 2005. However, the growth process slowed down; despite this, it continued to go up, and at the end of the period, it doubled its own proporion, from 4% to approximately 8%. Moreover, spending on education began with 5%, and it decreased moderately between 2000 and 2025, eventually reaching almost 4%.
In contrast to education, spending on roads and railways fluctuated over the period before ending with a decline. From 2005 to 2015, spending on roads decreased by 3% and reached 4%, even though it had reached nearly 3.75%.
