Overall,the number of immigrants and emigrants saw an upward trend, while that of net migration had no change despite having fluctuations throughout the period.

Looking at the details, the number of people who immigrated was around 450 thousand initially. It experienced a gradual rise to reach a peak of 600 thousand in 2004. After that, there was a period of volatility onwards. When it comes to the figure for emigration, it had around 300 thousand in 1999. It registered an enormous growth, gaining 100 thousand individuals untill 2006. Before reaching its peak of about 410 thousand, the number of emigrants decreased slightly to below 350 thousand.

In terms of net migration, it oscillated during the whole period and remained symmetrical as in the initial year.
