Overall, it is clear that reading is the most popular before bedtime activity done by the children at all 3 age groups. On the contrary, watching TV and eating are the least popular activities.
To begin with, the United States children are interested in reading most before sleeping, at about 65% of children from 1-3 years old, 70% of 4-5 years and approximately 60% of 6-8 years. In addition, brushing teeth is also a common activities. At about half of the children from 6 to 8 years old wash their teeth before going to bed, which is about 5% much than children of 4-5 years. At group 1-3 years, only 30% children brush their teeth before going to bed. However, this age group has the highest percentage of children having a shower before bedtime at 40%, compared to about 35% of 4-5 years and just over 30% of 6-8 years.
Moving to the 2 remaining activities, eating and watching TV gain the lowest percentage in all age groups. About 20% children aged 1-3 years old eat before going to bed, which is approximately twice as much as the other two age groups, 10% of 4-8 years and around 10% of 6-8 years. Finally, about 20% children of 4-5 years watch TV, compared to about 15% of 1-3 years and about 17% of 6-8 years.
