In 2000, holidays were the most common travel purpose for visits to China at approximately 9,500 thousand, and during the period, the number increased until the year 2016. In addition, business purposes for travel to China were roughly 7,500 thousand; after six years, in 2007, the number of travelers was around 10,000 thousand, which was the highest figure for business purposes. Moreover, from 2010 to 2016, the business purpose number increased and reached almost 9,500 thousand for visits to China.
In 2000, visiting friends or relatives journeys of overseas visitors to China were around 6,000 thousand, and during this period, the number increased until the year 2008 and to 2010, then decreased for visits to China. After that, visits to China increased and reached just around 10,800 thousand. In contrast, miscellaneous purposes for visits to China were nearly 2,800 thousand, and those overseas people visiting to China fluctuated and lastly were approximately 3,200 thousand in 2016
