The graph provides data about the number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US from 1960 to 2020.
Overall, retail and healthcare jobs have experienced a steady growth, while agriculture dropped down gradually and remained the least popular. Conversely, manufacturing increased suddenly and reduced its popularity.
At the start of 1960, retail and healthcare started at approximately 6 million and 3 million, respectively. Then, in 1980, both figures rose up to around 10 million and 5 million, respectively. In 2020, they both have remained at the same number of jobs, just above 15 million.
In 1960, agriculture started at the same number as retail job did. However, this number has been reduced to about 3 million. Between 2000 to 2020, that number of jobs has changed a little, at roughly 3 million jobs. While agriculture has remained unchanged and become the least popular job, manufacturing sector was initially popular among the other sectors starting with 15 million jobs. This figure has surged to 20 million, but then, in 2000, it declined steadily going down to approximately 16 million. At the end of the period, manufacturing decreased to around 13 million in 2020.
