Overall, manufacturing and agriculture became less popular over the period and witnessed a downward trend. However, retail and healthcare recorded a sharp increase in 40 years.
In more detail, the manufacturing led the industry with 15 millions of job in the first year. In 1988, this figure growth dramatically and were its peak at 20 millions of jobs, before falling down to under 15 millions in 2020. Meanwhile, around 5 millions was a figure for agriculture in 1960, these figure decreased roughly 4 million in the next 20 years after which its continually declined in 20 years later.
By stark contrast, the retail and healthcare economy experienced the same trend over the period. Starting at merely 5 million, the number of healthcare job rose sharply in 2000 before was equal that of retail in 2020. Similarly, retail witnesses relatively increase with the total number of 5 million jobs in 1960 which threefold of healthcare. In 1980 and 2000 this figure increased significantly at 10 and 15 respectively before end at rate of approximately 16 million equivalent to healthcare
