The line graph illustrates about the proportion of the population in four Asian countries (Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia) living in towns between 1970 to 2020, and estimated for 2030 and 2040.
Overall, in 1970, Philippines had the highest percentage of population who lived in cities whereas, Indonesia had the lowest. After 50 years, Philippines and Indonesia remained in same position. Similarly, predicted population in 2030 and 2040 for Philippines and Indonesia will highest and lowest respectively.
Initially, proportion of population in 1970 for Malaysia and Philippines were about 30%. With passage of years, population of Philippines gradually increased who lived in towns, reached about 75% and estimated population for Philippines will be around 90%. For Malaysia, population of individuals who belong to cities was initially slightly increased and reached peak at 50 % in the year of 1990, and after that went down reached about 40% in 2010 and estimated population is just over 50%.
However, in 1970, percentage of population peoples from cities were under 20% for Thailand and Indonesia. With the time, in both countries, proportion of population of cities were gradually increased and reached equal about 30% in 2000. Estimated town population is over 60% and under 50% for Indonesia and Thailand.
