Overall, all figures increased, whereas Malaysia and Indonesia showed the biggest growth. The datas grew by more than 40 percent points. In contrast, the Philippines had the smallest rise from 32% to 52%.
Despite starting with 30% in 1970 Malaysia saw an upwards trend to its peak at more than 80% in 2040, showing the highest data. Indonesia had a similar trend, the urban percentage grew from approximately 14% initially to 58% in 2040.
Turning to the other Asian counties, the percentage of the Philippines population living in cities was 32%, showing the largest percentage. Although the rise did not be as substantial as others, the data grew to its peak at 52% in 2040. As for Thailand, the figure was about 18% and it grew to its peak at 45% in 2040, increased by almost 3 times.
