The line graph shows how many people (by percentages) had been living from 1970 to 2020 and are going to live in the next 20 years in cities of 4 Asian countries.
Malaysia and Indonesia have a similar rising pattern in the period. However, in all years, the percentages of Malaysia are almost 20% more than Indonesia. In the first 20 years, Malaysia slightly increased by almost 15% (from 30% in 1970, which was in second place that year). Then, until 2020, the number sharply rose to 70%. It was predicted that in the next 20 years, about 80% of the population (the highest percentage among the 4 countries) will be living in cities. Initially, Indonesia had the lowest rank among the countries (approximately 13%). In the next 50 years, this number steadily increased to about 50%. By 2040, it will have a modest increase by 10%.
The highest number of citizens in 1970 was for the Philippines (a little more than 30%), which remained the same in the next 10 years. Although, by 1990, the number sharply increased in Philippins (around 47% of residents), until 2040, it will remain almost the same. Thailand shows almost the same behavior as the Philippines. From 1970 to 1990, 10% more Thai had been living in cities (less than 20% in 1970). The percentage fluctuated at the same level until 2020, but in the future, it will go up to about 45% (the lowest point of 2040).
Overall, all 4 countries show an increase in percentages during the 70-year period. Malaysia has the highest growth rate then Indonesia will have the second place. Both the Philippines and Thailand have a negligible growth and become third and fourth, respectively.
