The line graph illustrates the data regarding amount of population in Philippines, Malasiya, Thailand and Indonesia living in cities between year 1970 to year 2020 with the prediction of two decades starting from year 2030.
Overall, it is clearly observed that throughout the period, the majority of individuals living in cities in Malaysia in comparison of other countries. While, the least amount of citizens lived in cities in Indonesia as well as Thailand. There is a dramatic fluctuation in the numbers of Philippines throughout the period.
Firstly in 1970, an equal precentage of civilians living in the mega-cities in Malaysia and Phillippines at about 30%. In the period of thirty years, this number inclined for Malaysia and almost one-third of the Malaysians were staying in cities, whereas, slightly higher than quarter of the population were living in cities in Philippines. In year 2010, the percentage of people staying in mega-cities in Malasyia as well as Philippines shows a gradually increment and will reach it’s peak at around 80% and 40% respectively in year 2040.
Furthermore, during starting of the era, nearly 20% of Thai people were staying in cities which was almost half for Indonesians. These figures for both the nations steadily increased in 1980 and 1990. In the span of a decade, the similar percentage of civilians were living in the cities in Thailand and Indonesia. However, this amount in Indonesia surplus Malaysia in 2010 that reached approximately at 35% which slowly increased till end of the period reaches at merely 60%. Moreover, in Thailand the percent slightly declined in 2020 followed by 2010. However, the prediction shows a rapidly growth in upcoming decade.
