First and foremost, the numbers of participants for table tennis and musical performances stayed constant in the first few years, and then they demonstrated an apparent upward trend in the next years. Particularly, although table tennis was the fourth in 2000, it had already become the second activity in Melbourne, whose number increased to 3 times.
Besides, the figures of participants for film club and martial arts reached a plateau from 2000 to 2020, fluctuating within a narrow range. Although film club’s participants did not climb highly, it remained the most popular in the past 20 years.
Meanwhile, the only one which illustrated a decline is the figure of amateur dramatics. In the first 5 years, it slightly rose, but it fell from 2005 to 2020. It had been the lowest activity in Melbourne.
In summary, 2 types of activities show an apparent upward trend, 2 sorts stay constant, and amateur dramatics faded away in the past 20 years.
