The line graph depicts electricity production in terawatt hours in France from the year 1980 to 2012. Four sources of energy are contributing with Nuclear being the highest overall, thermal and hydroelectric power having similar generating capacity and lastly, renewable energy seeing a change only after 2000.
In 1980, Thermal source produced around 120TW-h, gradually decreasing to 50TW-h in 1985 and continued generating over and under 50TW-h units till 2012. Hydroelectric electricity commenced in 1980 as well, with a capacity of producing approximately 60 to 70TW-h, fluctuating around the 60TW-h unit mark till 2012.
While nuclear source starting at just around 50TW-h units, there was a dramatic increase in its ability to produce electricity, reaching a peak of approximately 425 units in 2005 and falling to just over 400TW-h in 2012. Conversely, renewable sources were not inculcated in power generation until the year 2000, gradually growing to approximately 30 to 40TW-h units till 2012.
In summary, nuclear was the highest power generating source, with hydroelectric and thermal contributing around the similar range of units and finally, renewable being the lowest with relatively very little electricity production.
