Overall, Nuclear energy was by far the most important means of electricity generation over the period shown. In contrast, Renewables provided the lowest amount of electricity in each year.
In 1980, Nuclear power station was the second most energy producing source with figures of just under 50 terawatt hours; however, it surpassed thermal power stations in terms of electricity generation after a year, and became the primary source of energy. After that, it soared and reached a peak of approximately 425 TW-h. Moreover, thermal power stations saw a significant decline from about 120 TW-h to approximately 50 TW-h and stayed relatively unchanged.
Hydroelectric method of electricity production showed fluctuations between 50 and 80 TW-h, and it showed similar figures to that of Thermal power stations. Meanwhile, Renewables produced a negligible amount of power until 2006 and witnessed a small rise to just over 30 TW-h in 2012. Despite this, Renewables stayed as the least energy producing source of energy over the given period.
