The bar chart illustrates the proportion of unemployment among women in four countries of the United Kingdom between 2013 and 2014, expressed as percentages.

Overall, there were notable changes in unemployment rates in four countries within aone-year period. The proportion of female unemployment in England dropped slowly from 6.8% in 2013 to 6.5% in 2014, and the figures for women unemployed in Wales declined by 0.4%, at 5.4% in 2013 compared to 5% in 2014. Meanwhile, the rates for unemployment among women in Northern Ireland fell by 1%, significantly higher than England and Wales, from 5.6% in 2013 to 4.6% in 2014.

In contrast, the rates of unemployed women in Scotland expressed a slight increase over the same period, starting from 6.1% in 2013 to 6.7% in 2014, the highest number recorded among the others.

It can be understood that while most countries in the United Kingdom exhibited a downward trend in female unemployment throughout the period, only Scotland surprisingly signaled an increase over the same time frame.
