The line graph illustrates the number of goods delivered by various kinds of transport in the UK from 1980 to 2008.

Overall, the road was the primary method of transport throughout the timeframe. In addition, moved by water and pipeline were also displayed nearly the same trend, rail experienced fluctuation.

To begin with, trasnported by road was by far the dominant of in the chart, its start point at around 70 million in 1980, after it dip slightly to 58 million in 1988, the figures rose steadily to over 80 million in the next two decades in 1996. Finally, after going through some rise and fall, the data stopped at about 90 million in 2008.

Looking more closely to water, started at nearly 40 million in 1980, it experienced a sharply increase in 1988, accounted for approximately 58 million tonnes, in the subsequent years, the number remain stedily and fell slightly in 2004 before it peaked at 63 million tonnes in 2008. In contrast, the pipeline was stay at the lowest with around 2 million in 1980, then it climbed gradually in the years that followed and finally stood at 22 million in 2008. The last was the rail, its numbers showed some fluctuation, first at 40 million in 1980, then it fell heavily to 30 million and managed to increase again before reached at 41 million in 2008.
