The line graph illustrates how much the average final price levels of gold, platinum, and palladium changed between 2013 and 2021.
Overall, the average cost of gold and platinum was more expensive at the beginning of the period. However, this was surpassed by palladium during the period. Despite gold and platinum standing almost at the same price level initially, they subsequently followed opposing trajectories.
Regarding the average price of palladium, in 2013, this stood at approximately $700 per oz. and hovered around that level until 2016. It experienced a gradual rise to $1000, outpacing the value of platinum in 2018, before experiencing its largest growth between 2018 and 2021, soaring dramatically to its peak of just below $2500 per oz.
When it comes to the price of gold and platinum, which stood at around $1500 in 2013, before witnessing a slight decrease simultaneously until 2015. Then there was a slow increase to approximately $1700 in the average cost of gold in 2020 which remained stable at this price at the end of the year. Meanwhile, the value of platinum decreased slowly to $1000 until 2020 and ended up just above $1000 at the end of the period.
