Generally, the use of buses as a mode of transportation showed a small degree of fluctuation. In contrast, the figures for trains and cars changed dramatically over the period.
The graph reveals that the highest usage of cars was around 5 million commuters in 1970. This number remained stable for about 10 years, then increased to around 7 million in 2001. There was a slight decrease over the following 9 years, but from 2011 to 2029, there was an upward trend. The peak was reached in 2030 with 9 million commuters.
On the other hand, the figures for buses and trains appeared to be relatively stable from 1970 to 1980, although buses had more commuters than trains. By the year 2000, buses began to show a downward trend, while trains showed an upward trend.
