The line chart demonstrates how many Vietnamese students studied in three different countries including France, Russia and America over a period of 15 years, starting from 2000. The units are measured in millions.
Overall, while the numbers of Vietnamese students in France as well as America increased markedly, that of Russia’s decreased gradually over the period surveyed. Additionally, despite initially being the least popular destination to study, the figure for America increased further, surpassing the number of students in France.
Regarding America, it started the period with a chart-low of around 1.5 million Vietnamese students, thereafter it registered a rapid rise, exceeding France and reaching an all-time high of 5 million students in 2015.
As for France, initially it was the most popular destination for Vietnamese students to study, and it welcomed roughly 3.5 millions of students. After that, however, the figure dropped by almost 1 million in 2005 before leveling out at about 2.5 million in 5 consequent years. From 2010 till 2015, the quantity of students grew steeply to practically 4.5 million.
When it comes to Russia, it was the only country that saw a decline in the number of Vietnamese applicants. In the year 2000, 3 millions of Vietnamese students applied to Russian universities, followed by a noticeable drop to just under 2 million in 2010. But in the end the figure rose gradually to by a half million.
