The bar chart illustrates the fertility rates of women in six countries , namely Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE in two years, 1990 and 2000.
Overall, there was a downward trend in the female fertility rates in all the Gulf countries during the period.Additionally, Oman and Saudi Arabia’s data witnessed the highest fertility rates in both years, while the figures for Bahrain and Kuwait recorded the lowest one.
In 1990, Oman had the highest female fertility rate, with 7 births per woman.This was followed by Saudi Arabia, with over 6 births per woman.The numbers of births per woman in Qatar and the UAE was equal at around 4, whereas Bahrain and Kuwait ‘s data were at the bottom end, with above 2 births per woman.
In 2000, the fertility rate in both Oman and Saudi Arabia declined significantly to over 5 births per woman.There was a slight drop to over 3 births per woman in Qatar’s data, while the UAE experienced a fall of 1 birth per woman.Both Bahrain and Kuwait had the fertility rates between 2 and 3 births per woman.
