The line graph illustrates the number of books read by male and female at Burnaby Public Library over a 4-year period ending in 2014.
Overall, both men and women showed an upward trend throughout the period. Although women read more books than men at the beginning of the period, their reading fell to below the level of men by the end of the period.
As the graph shows, the number of books read by men started at approximately 20,000 in 2011, followed by a small increase to around 4000 in the year 2014. Then, this figure rose rapidly to about 10,000 in 2013, and continued to increase steadily until the end of the period, reaching approximately 13,000 in 2014.
On the other hand, the figure of books read by women was less than 6000 at the beginning of the period, and experienced a slight increase to around 8000 in 2012, and continued to rise until it reached around 10000 in 2013. Finally, this figure fell gradually until it reached approximately 8000 by the end of the period.
