The line graph gives information about the number of immigrants to three different countries between 1990 to 2001.
Overall, the USA started as the leading country and remained in its position throughout the period despite a slight decline. In addition, Canada had low and stable figures, while Australia remained at a negligible level throughout.
Looking at the graph in more detail, in 1991 the USA had the highest number, at just over 1.5 million, increasing sharply and reaching a peak of 1.8 million in 1992 before plummeting to around 1 million in 1993. Thereafter, the figure fell steadily to 800,000 in 1996, rose substantially to just under 1 million in the next year and then decreased again to 700,000 in 2000, finishing the period at 900,000.
Regarding the remaining countries, the number of immigrants in Canada started at 200,000 in 1991 and then increased slightly about 250,000 by 1994 before declining to roughly 210,000 and remaining close to this level until 2000, when the figure witnessed market increase, at about 420,000. Australia stayed almost unchanged at about 100,000 throughout the period, despite showing some fluctuations.
