It is noticeable that the totoal number of tourists had increased precipitously over this period, and both ascending trends could be seen from staying on cruise ships or staying on island, despite some fluctuations.
As is shown in the graph, before 2013, staying on island was a more popular choice among visitors. After stabilizing at 0.75 millions of visitors for a year, the number of travelers staying on island rose dramatically from 0.75 millions of visitors to 1.5 millions of visitors, which almost doubled. By contrast, the figure for visitors staying on cruise ships oscilliated between 0.25 and 0.5 millions of visitors. The total number of visitors grew drastically, with visiting the island as the biggest contributor, from 1 millions of visitors in 2010 to 2 millions of visitors in 2013.
During the next 4 years, cruise ships turned out to be more popular, which attracted more visitors, from 0.5 millions of visitors in 2013 to 1.5 millions of visitors in 2017, taking up more than 50% of the total number. Especially, the figures for these two destinations exchanged from year 2015 to 2016.
