The chart illustrates how many male and female students studied six research fields at a US university in the year 2011.
Overall, it can be seen that Natural sciences accounted for the highest number of students in both genders, whereas the opposite was true for Linguistics. Noticeably, there was an enormous difference between male and female pupils studying Mathematics.
There was a balance in the quantity of undergraduates enrolling Nature Sciences, at approximately 200 students. Psychology was the second discipline chosen with 200 male students and 175 female students. Following this, Mathematics was also enrolled by 200 male colleagues, nearly quadrupled compared to the figure for female colleagues.
Engineering and Programming made up for the majority of male students, at 150 students. Whereas, the number of female students studying Linguistics was higher than male colleagues, over 100 students.
