Regarding countries with rises, in 1990, the Australian export rate to China was about 2%, after which it surged to just below 30% in 2012, after surpassing the figures for the US and Japan at 10% in 2004 and 20% in 2008, respectively, to become the largest importer. Moreover, the export percentage to India remained relatively stable at the lowest of 1% until 2002, followed by a steady incline and peaked at just under 10% in 2009, before ending the period with a marginal fall of 2%.
As for the other countries, both nations saw some slight fluctuations over the period. Japan accounted for the highest share of imports in the first year, at a quarter. Thereafter, its figures saw a gradual decline and the lowest point at approximately 18% in 2003, prior to hovering around this level until 2012, despite a recovery from 2007 to 2008. Meanwhile, the US generally experienced a similar pattern, starting at the highest point at just above 10% initially, then ending with a steady decline to just over India’s final level, despite peaking at the initial level in 2000.
