Overall, Turkey and Greece remained its highest progression in the share of independant workers, while Russia, Slovakia and Czech had significantly lower figures.
In 1998, Turkey displayed its dominance with approximately 55%, followed by Greece obtaining nearly 40% of the total labor force. A decade later, the percentage of freelancers in both countries gradually declined, with Turkey decreasing to nearly 40% and Greece falling dramatically to above 30%.
On the contrary, Russia, Slovakia and Czech pose the marginally lower figures, with Russia and Slovakia both below 10%, apart from Czech in 1998. Although there were intolerable increase by few percentage points, Russian self-employment still remain the lowest of all. At the end of the surveyed period, Slovakia and Czech fortunately gained more than 10%, however, still incomparable with that of Turkey and Greece, which has proved their predominance.
