The bar chart illustrates the general rate of self-employment of the overall workforce in five specific countries (Russian Republic, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Greece, and Turkey) between 1998 and 2008.
Overall, Turkey and Greece demonstrated the largest share initially before its sharp decrease by the end of the period. The remaining three countries (Russian Republic, Slovakia, and Czech Republic) showed either negligible growth or modest increases.
In 1998, Turkey accounted for the largest proportion to just around 55% as the dominant country in both of the two decades albeit its sudden drop to under 40% by the end of the period. It was followed by Greece, which held the second-largest numbers of approximately 40% initially before its rapid fall to 35% in 2008.
Turning to the three remaining countries, the Czech Republic demonstrated the most remarkable growth among the lowest categories of just over 10% in 1998, which increased slightly to reach around 15% in 2008.
In contrast, Slovakia and the Russian Republic showed the lowest level throughout the given period, of around 5% initially in both of the countries. Although Slovakia experienced a slight increase to approximately 10% in 2008, the Russian Republic stayed almost unchanged.
