The bar chart compares the rate of different type of households that can access to the internet in a European country from 1999 to 2004.
Overall, in 2004 both countryside areas and cities had the highest chances to use the internet. In addition, by all the surveyed time people in urban area access to the internet much more frequently than those from rural areas.
Regarding the rural places, there was only about 2% of households that had internet access in 1999. The years went by, the percentages were likely to increase approximately 5% every year which was under 5%, 10%, nearly 15% in 2000, 2001 and 2002, respectively. Moreover, the rate translated to about a 10% growth equivalent in 2003 and kept rising 10% for the next year, hitting roughly 35% in the final years.
Concerning the remaining areas, in the first year, the proportion of suburban and urban’s household had internet had already 7 times larger than household in countryside, having about 15%. Additionally, the share was rocketed by the times, with 30% in 2000, it increased to 40% in 2001, over 50% in 2003. Finally, the figures hit its peak in 2004 at under 55%, at all the timeline the percentage of cities always at least double in percentage, compared to the rate in the countryside.
