The line graph illustrates the electricity-generating capability of Germany between 2008 and 2014.
Overall, Germany used a lot of coal and nuclear power at first but gradually became less dependent on those sources and it was replaced by wind power and solar power at the end of the period.
In 2008, coal and nuclear power dominated in the top five power production capacities which started at nearly 30GW and 22GW, respectively. However, it witnessed both coal and nuclear power dropping dramatically by about 21GW and 10GW at the end of the period.
Turning to the wind power, which started at around 11GW in 2008, then it remained stable in the next 3 years at about 27GW, after that the wind power reached a peak at 54GW in the final year of the period. Similarly, Solar power saw a significant growth from 5GW in 2008 to 25GW in 2011 before increasing twofold to 50GW in 2014.
Oil, although witnessing a slight increase in the first 2 years from 6GW to 7GW, this figure showed a marginal decrease at nearly 4GW, after oil stayed unchanged to 4GW by the end of the period.
