The bar chart gives information on the percentage of different categories of magazines sold by a specific company in three years, 1975, 1995, and 2015.
Overall, it is discernible that while sports magazines experienced an upward trend, the opposite trend was observed in fashion and health ones. Notably, food and other categories remained unchanged with their peaks in 1995, and sports magazines were consistently the company’s best-selling publications.
Looking first at the sports, fashion, and health types, in 1975, the figure for sports stood at about 32%, being marginally higher than those for fashion and health, ranging from 23 to 26%, with the lower in the former. During the remaining period, the proportion of sports magazines witnessed a significant growth, reaching its peak at about 42% in 2015. In stark contrast, fewer and fewer fashion magazines had been bought, recording only 5% by the end of the period. At the same time, there was a slight decrease of 5% in the percentage of health magazines in 1995, followed by a leveling off in the final year.
Regarding the remaining categories, food and the others followed the same pattern with their figures standing at 10% and slightly above 25% respectively in the initial year. Subsequently, both reached their highest points in 1995 and then returned to their initial levels at the end of the period, with food magazines experiencing a much more substantial fluctuation of 12% compared to only 6% of the others.
