The line graph shows how many online adults in the USA used five social media websites from 2012 to 2015.
Overall, Facebook was by far the most popular website during the whole period. In addition, the percentage of users grew for all platforms, except LinkedIn, which decreased slightly at the end.
In 2012, Facebook was at the top with 67%. Over the next three years, its popularity grew steadily and reached 72% in 2015.
The other four social networks started at much lower levels, between 13% and 20%. LinkedIn was second in 2012 with 20%, rising to about 28% in 2014, but then it dropped to 25% in 2015. On the other hand, Pinterest and Instagram showed strong growth. Pinterest increased from 15% to 31%, becoming the second most popular network by 2015. Similarly, Instagram grew significantly from 13% to 28%. Finally, Twitter had the slowest growth, starting at 16% and finishing at 23%.
