Over the past 75 years, the global population illustrated in the bar graph chart, has had a gradual increase and it is expected to continue growing over the next years. The total number ranges from 2.5 billion persons in 1950 to almost 7 in today’s world.
Overall, a 0.5 billion increment has been observed in the general population every 5 years, and it will reach to a total of 8.5 billion people by 2030. In both line graphs, which represent the differences between the urbal and rural areas, it is shown that the urban population has had a faster and gradual growth since the 1950s. By contrast, a more predominant rise of the number of rural inhabitants has been exhibited during the first 50 years, with a difference of 1 billion persons between both sectors.
Despite the fact that the rural population has been steady throughout time, starting with 1.7 billion people, a significant turnover occurred between 2005 and 2010. From this year on, the general distribution of rural people became lesser than the urban population, with a nearly 2 billion disparity between the two groups. Finally, both rural and urban populations will exceed to 3 billion and 5 billion in 2030, respectively.
