Overall, overseas visitors in the lake and coast showed a steady but significant rise over the period, while the percentage of overseas travelers waste in mountains experienced downward trend.
To begin, in 1987 around 40,000 travelers went to the coast throughout the period, although the figure declined slightly until 1992 and reaching approximately 75,000 at the end of the period. In the meantime, the proportion of overseas visitors in lake experienced sharply with only 10,000 tourists in 1987 and then peaking around 75,000 in 2002. During 2002-2007, the number of visitors the lakes dropped significantly to around 50,000 by the end of period.
The mountains consistently attracted fewer visitors compared to other two areas, starting at about 20,000 in 1987 and gradually was the lowest at the end of period.
