Overall, Asia had the lowest percentage of participants in the initial years whereas the UK accounted for the least proportion of participants in the final year.
At the starting years, Asia was at the bottom of the chart with only 3 percent of people participating in different kinds of sport. In 1991, the proportion of people taking part in various sports increased to 5%. Furthermore, after 15 years of period, the number reached its peak at 15%, overtaking both ‘Other’ and the UK.
In terms of ‘Other’, in the starting years, the percentage of people who took part in 4 different sports was moderately higher than Asia, accounting for 11%, which then started to decline and reached at 8% only. Afterwards, the proportion started to rise consistantly and reached 14% in the year 2006. However, it experinced a slight decline in the next 5 years of period. By contrast, the Uk started at the top of the chart accounting for 14% people in 1976. However, the proportion started to fall and the decline continued till the end of the period and reached only 5% by the year 2011.
