The line graph illustrates the proportions of 4 age groups travelling to the cinema once a month or more from 1984 to 2003.
Overall, the percentages of all age groups fluctuated over period. The figure for age 15-24 came to the cinema most, while that of age 35 and over group rarely went.
For the younger groups, in 1984, the percentage of age 7-14 group visited the cinema was 10 percent, compared to about 18 percent for the figure of 15-24.The proportion of age 7-14 group witnessed a growth to 18 percent in 1986, before fluctuating significantly, and ending with a decrease after 2003. The figure for age 15-25 had a similar trend, which it increased gradually to over 30 percent in 1994, fluctuated and peaked at about 55 percent in 2003, and decreased after that.
For the older groups, the proportion in age 25-35 group was higher (5%) than that of age 35 and over (3%) in 1984. In the next 19 years, the percentage of the former increase considerably to 25 percent although there were some drop in 2000 and 2003. Meanwhile, the figure for age 35 and over group increased steadily to about 10 percent in 2003.
