The graph presents rates in terms of unemployment in three different countries: the UK, whole Europe, and Japan over a period of 14 years from 1993 to 2007.
Overall, it is clear that the UK and Europe initially had higher unemployment rates compared to Japan. However, by the end of the period, all of these countries experienced a gradual decrease except Japan. Japan saw a slight increase over a period. It’s also worth mentioning that the gap between these countries narrowed from 1993 to 2007.
In 1993, the UK was the country with the highest unemployment rate with 11%. Europe was also the second-highest country in terms of unemployment with 9%. Japan, at this time, provided a negligible rate with the lowest of 2%.
In 2001, the UK saw a dramatic decline from 11% to 4%, and then a gradual increase stuck at 5% in 2007. Europe, after a slight rise between 1993 and 2001, saw a gradual decline and stabilised at 6% in 2007. Japan, Over a 14-year period, despite starting with 2%, unlike UK and Europe, it experienced a gradual rise and increased from 2% to close to 4%.
