Overall, WHILE the boys enjoyed outdoor activities, the girls were MORE likely than boys to ENGAGE IN indoor activities. IN ADDITION, both genders liked playing computer games. Playing computer games is the only activity that attracts the same attention from both genders.
The proportion of males choosing to play sports was highest at 28%, followed by going to the park at 25%. However, the corresponding figures for girls were much lower, at 10% and 12% respectively. The proportion of females playing games on the computer is tied with that of males at 15%.
By contrast, the figure for girls who participate in craft and art was highest among them, at 25%, which was more than three times as high as that of boys (7%). Similarly, the proportion of girls reading books (18%) was nearly double that of boys (9%). 18% of girls watched DVDs, which exceeded that of boys who did the same thing by more than 3%.
