The line graph and column graph illustrate the number of vehicles bought (in millions) in England and Wales and the proportion of Carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere (in tonnes) by four different vehicles respectively, over the period of twenty years- from 2000 to 2020.
Overall, it can be witnessed from the line graph that the number of vehicles bought have seen a significant rise over the given period, and the effect of driving these vehicles.
In the line graph, it can be noted that there was a constant rise in the numbers right from the beginning. The number was at twenty at 2000 and reached around 28 during the year 2005. Subsequently, it reached approximately 35, 45 and 60 during 2010, 2015, and 2020 respectively.
It can be clear seen from the column graph that cars were the major cause of the CO2 emissions over the twenty year period. Cars released around 2.2 tonnes, 2.7 tonnes and 3 tonnes during 2000, 2010 and 2020 respectively. Trucks is the second major cause followed vans and buses. Trucks released around 0.6 tonnes, 0.9 tonnes and 1.6 tonnes, Vans around 0.7 tonnes ,0.8 tonnes and 0.5, and Buses around 0.4 tonnes , 0.4 tonnes and 0.3 tonnes – all during the years 2000, 2010, and 2020 respectively.
