The line graph illustrates the amount of money spent on children’s sport on average and the number of children participating in three different sports in the UK between 2008 and 2014.
Overall, the spending on kids’ sport increased over the given period while the number of children joining in football, athletics and swimming also increased over time.
According to the first graph, the expenditure invested on children’s sport rose significantly from time to time, starting at 20 million pounds in 2008 before reaching its peak at more than 30 million pounds in 2014.
In comparison to the increase in spending, the number of children participating in sports also shows a clear trend of growth. In 2008, roughly 8 million and 2 million children joined football and swimming. Afterwards, the number of children playing football dropped slightly before reaching a peak of 9 million in 2014, whereas swimming continued to attract more children and surged to almost 4 million in 2014. Similarly, there were approximately 1 million kids choosing swimming after which the trend climbed considerably in 2012 and started to leveled off slightly to almost 5 million at the end of the period.
