The line graphs demonstrate how much British people annually spend on children sports and participation in three different types of sport; football, athletics, and swimming from 2008 to 2014. Overall, it can be clearly seen that football had the highest expenditure during the given years.
In 2008, the number of children playing football started at eight million people, followed by swimming and athletics with two million and one million people respectively. After two years, there was a slight decrease of football to 7.9 million people before gradually increasing to 8.5 in 2014. Meanwhile, the number of people swimming showed an overall increase during the given period, rising from 2 million in 2008 to just under 4 million people in 2014. Athletics remained stable at 1 million until 2010, it then significantly grew to 5 million people in 2012 before slightly dropping to 4.9 million people at the end of the period.
To sum up, three type of sports saw an overall increase in expenses and the greatest change was athletics.
