The table illustrates the resources of the police budget, categorized into four groups, National government, Local taxes and other sources, in years 2017 and 2018, while the pie charts show the distribution of this budget among three sectors including, salaries, technology, building and transport during these years.
Overall, at first glance, it becomes apparent that the total amount of the police budget was higher in 2018 than a year earlier. Additionally, the most significant income was dedicated to offices and staff salaries in both years.
To begin with, although the average budget coming from each source was slightly lower in 2017, the budget from other sources remained almost steady in both years. In 2017, police budget coming from the national government was 175.5$, a negligible lower that of in 2018 at 177.8$. Moreover, local taxes in 2017 and 2018 were 91.2$ and 102.3$ respectively.
Conversely, 75 percent of total budget dedicated to officers and staff salaries in 2017, then by a slight decrease, reaching 69 percent of total in 2018. It is noticeable that the specific budget for building and transport sectors remained unchanged during these years at 17% of total. While the amount of budget toward technology was 8% of total by almost a twofold increase, reaching 14% of total in 2018.
