Overall, the percentage of households using internet was considerably lower in the beginning, however by the end of the period the numbers rose significantly. The most notable feature is that in the last year, almost every family in the United States had an internet in their house.
In 1993, internet technologies in American houses were responsible for around 15% and in the following 2 years, they increased moderately by approximately 2%. Starting from about 1997, there was a dramatic rise from 20% to just above 40% in 2000.
Between 2000 and 2005, the proportion of internet technologies in families continued to grow, totaling 60% in 2005. After 6 years, in 2011, families using internet technologies accounted for 80%. In the final years, rise was minimal and it reached a peak of nearly 85% in 2016.
