The line graph illustrates the proportion of visitors to the cinema in one country, separated by different age brackets.
Overall, what stands out on the graph is a steady decline in all age groups with the exception of over 50 age group. It is also obvious that the youngest age group dominated in the graph, albeit to decrease. In spite of being in the last place, those aged over 50 were identical to the figure for people from 35 to 49.
Starting with a downward trend, the percentages for visitors aged from 14 to 24 and from 25 to 34 witnessed a decline. Beginning at around 90% and 80% in 1978, with the former leading, the figures declined to 80% and 60%, respectively. After that, they showed signs of recovery before remaining unchanged until the final year.
On the other hand, the audience aged from 35 to 49 held the third place, with 60% in the initial year. The percentage of that group fell substantially by 20% in 1988. Although they experienced a swift rise, they stabilized for a long time before going down gradually to about 50% in 2008. In contrast, visitors who are over 50 showed a negligible increase. Starting off at roughly 40% in 1978, the percentages for this group declined sharply to 20% over the next decade. Still, the figures for them rose noticeably to more than 40% by the end of the year.
