The chart illustrates the fluctuations in ownership of electrical devices and shows how much time was spent doing housework in homes in one country between 1920 and 2019.
Overall, the amount of household electrical tools increased while housework times decreased steadily over the years. All three devices (washing machine refrigerator,vacuum cleaner) had significant rise through the period. Number of houseworks had experienced a significant upward trend through the years with the use of electrical appliances in houses.
In the first chart, in 1920 the percentage of the use of washing machines started with the highest score which is , vacuum cleaners followed it with while refrigerators didn’t even start to use. Vacuum cleaners experienced significant growth with reaching up to every household in 2000 and continued until the end of the period whereas refrigerators increased rapidly through the years and caught up to 0 in 1980 while the percentage of washing machines reached up approximately in 2019 with some slight fluctuations through the years.
Moreover, in the second chart with increasing the use of electrical appliances, the number of hours of housework experienced a downward trend between the years. In detail, housework hours were 50 per a week in 1920s and figures increased with 10 hours per a week in 2019.
