The two maps demonstrate how the center of a small town called Islip changed over five years to become a more modernized and residential area from 2010 to 2015.
Overall, it is apparent that the town of Islip was transformed into a residential center and commercialized a great deal with the addition of several amenities, including a bus station, a car park, and a dual carriageway.
To begin with, it is clear that the transport system underwent significant changes. For example, a new dual carriageway was constructed, and by 2015, residential areas along with a shopping center, car and bus stations, and housing developments, were built within it. Additionally, better pedestrian paths were created, making it easier for people to reach their destinations.
Another significant change is that sites designed for commerce and education occupied most of the town center. There were old retail outlets, which were located on the north side of the town, that were replaced by a bus station, a shopping center, a car park, and additional residential developments. In addition, a pedestrian path was erected near the retail outlets. This resulted in the removal of the main road. Meanwhile, the park in the eastern section was enlarged in 2015. Despite these changes, the school located in the western part of the town remained unchanged.
