The image features two layout maps of a zoo, labeled "1960" (top) and "Now" (bottom), both with a north indicator arrow pointing up labeled "N". In the 1960 map, a northern water strip features an anchor icon and is labeled "harbour" on the right. Features include enclosures for "African animals" and "Australian animals" in the northwest, "birds" and "seal show" in the north-central area, and "chimpanzees" beneath them, with a single-story "gift shop" in the south-central area and three sets of tables and trees labeled "picnic area" on the east; dashed pathways connect the southwest edge to these exhibits. In the Now map, the northern harbour contains an anchor icon on the left, a "ferry" boat in the center, and an arched structure labeled "entrance" to its right. The northwest enclosures are labeled "Wild animals" and "Australian animals", with a second arched "entrance" added in the southwest. Centrally located are relocated enclosures for "African animals" and "seal show", above an expanded two-story "gift shop". A diagonal "cable car" line runs between stations near the gift shop and the north-central area adjacent to the eastern "picnic area" containing three picnic table sites, with dashed paths linking the southwest entrance, animal exhibits, and the upper cable car station.

The maps compare the layout of a zoo in Australia in 1960 with its current layout.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the zoo underwent significant changes over the period. Of particular note was the addition of a cable car and the ferry service, also expansion of the gift shope and entrances. Furthermore, several animal places were relocated.
Starting with the northern section, in 1960, the areas previously occupied by birds and chimpanzees were replaced with enclosure for African animals. The features that remained unchanged throughout the period were the seal show, picnic area and the Australian animals.
