Band 5: The map below shows the development of the village of Ryrmouth between 1995 and present. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 1 Sample)

The map illustrates the change of the village of Ryemouth from 1995 to right now.

Overall, the village is more modern by the increase in accommodation, the disappearance of the fishing port, and the construction of sports facilities over 29-years period.

To begin with, it is noticeable that the residential area in the northwest has expanded. There are more houses on the two side of main road. Furthermore, the main road was expanded to the west which is parallel to the sea. There also has two houses constructed next to four houses before.In the eastern part of the map, the farmland has been transformed into a golf club, and the forest park has been converted into tennis courts.

Additionally, a car park has been added to the hotel located in the south side, while the café across the road has remained unchanged over time. Especially, the fishing port which has been constructed since 1995 has disappeared into the sea. Moreover, the restaurant used to be the shop and the fish market was demolished to make way for apartments.
