The two maps show the changes that have taken place on the beachfront in Australia in 1950 and now. Overall, the beachfront used to be a spacious area. However, with the addition of several buildings, it has become more of a tourist-friendly place.
It is immediately noticeable that the beachfront has become more built up over the period. The construction of the restaurant and surf club has significantly altered the layout of the beachfront, making it a more modern and functional space for visitors. In addition to these amenities, the road has undergone significant expansion to connect directly to the lighthouse, and a second surf club has been built just beside the lighthouse.
Furthermore, the playground has been torn down to make way for a new car park, which provides visitors with easy access to the area. A new 50m pool has been added alongside the existing 25m pool. Finally, the dining tables and pavilion are the only facilities that remain untouched.
